How to Use Our Buylist

Got cards sitting in a binder you're not using? Trade them in with Playmantis for Store Credit. Here's everything you need to know.

The Short Version

  1. Browse and add cards to your cart Search or browse by set on our Buylist page.
  2. Submit your request Log in, press Submit Buylist Request, and get your Buylist ID.
  3. Send us your cards By post or in person, within 3 days.
  4. We grade and process Usually within 5 business days of receiving them.
  5. Get paid Store Credit, with a full email breakdown of what was accepted.

Step 1: Build Your Buylist Cart

Head to our Buylist page and search or browse by set to find the cards you want to trade in. Choose the correct finish (Nonfoil, Foil, etc.) and add your quantity to the cart. You don't need to be logged in to do this. Build your cart at your own pace, and it'll be saved for when you're ready to submit.

Step 2: Submit Your Request

When you're ready, head to checkout and log in (or create an account, which only takes a minute). Press "Submit Buylist Request" to lock in your prices and receive a Buylist ID. Keep this handy. You'll need it if you ever contact us about your order. It will also be emailed to you.

Your locked-in price is valid for 3 days from this point, so make sure you're ready to send your cards soon after submitting.

Step 3: Send Us Your Cards

You can either:

  • Post them to us:
    Playmantis, Unit 7/461 Ipswich Road, Annerley, QLD, 4103
    We recommend using tracked postage and insurance. You don't need to send us the tracking number; we'll check it against your parcel when it arrives to confirm it was sent on time.
  • Drop them off in-store during our opening hours (see below). Under 10 cards? Ask staff, if they're free, they may grade and process it on the spot as a courtesy.

Either way, your cards need to be sent or dropped off within 3 days of receiving your Buylist ID to keep your locked-in price. If your cards are lodged after this window, we'll price them at current Buylist rates instead.

Packing Your Cards

  • Cards should be unsleeved.
  • Sort your cards by set, then alphabetically by card name within each set. This matches the order on your confirmation email and helps us process your order faster.
  • Unsorted or sleeved submissions over 20 cards will incur a 10% processing fee, so it's worth the extra few minutes.

Step 4: We Grade Your Cards

Once your cards arrive, our team gets to work. We buy in two condition tiers:

Near Mint

The full price shown on the Buylist page.

Played

A flat 30% of the Near Mint price. We may also accept promo or date-stamped cards at this rate.

Not Purchased

Heavily played, damaged, altered, or counterfeit cards. Played cards may also be rejected at our discretion.

We'll always let you know why a card wasn't purchased, and note it clearly in your breakdown.

Step 5: Get Paid

Once your submission is processed (usually within 5 business days of us receiving your cards, a little longer around holidays or big set releases), you'll receive an email with a full breakdown:

  • Accepted Cards (Near Mint) — credited at full price
  • Accepted at Reduced Price (Played) — credited at 30%
  • Not Purchased — anything we couldn't buy, with a reason

Your total is credited straight to your Playmantis Store Credit, which never expires and can be used on anything in our store. Currently, we only offer Store Credit for trade-ins, no cash payouts.

If you'd like a Not Purchased card sent back to you, just get in touch within 14 days of your breakdown email. Return postage is at your cost.
